Dressings & technologies to assist healing.
The Veterinary Wound Library is spearheaded by Georgie Hollis BSc whose background in wound technologies, biomechanics and education led her to her current role the application Georgie's wound management interests started 25 years ago as she began her clinical training as a Podiatrist in human healthcare. A passion for animals and animal care led her to explore the transition of advanced technologies from human to Veterinary medicine and found that many of the products and technologies being developed for human benefit were not finding their way into Veterinary practice. The economics and dynamics of the Veterinary market meant many products fail to benefit animals despite being equally viable. It was at this point she began to work independently to introduce the latest trends in human wound care for the benefit of the Veterinary profession.
Georgie has since cy and commercial lecture on the subject in the absence of commercial interest to inform Vets on Veterinary ago widely on wound management and dressing technologies for over a decade.
She found that as in human healthcare there is confusion over which dressing to use on which wound as well as a lack of confidence in terms of surgical approach in first opinion practice. This is simply because challenging cases don't present every day, so when they do it can be hard to know what the latest developments are and how to go about getting the best outcome.
he Veterinary Wound Library offered the service to overcome this issue - Telemedicine and support for any question and any wound faced in Veterinary practice. The aim being to help clinicians with decision making, to introduce the latest technologies that may assist and to facilitate better outcomes and improved confidence with the support of specialists in the field.
