How it Works
Towards an evidence base for veterinary wound managementThe Library is specifically designed to enable veterinary clinicians to access information and products for wound management that are specific to veterinary needs. By using products that are trialed through the library in return for basic outcome data information will be gained that will contribute to what is currently a very poor evidence base for 'modern' wound management methods in veterinary practice. Learn from others, share your experience and develop the scienceOnce a member of the library access is given to all trial products and completed case reports generated from previous trials. A new case is created by selection of a trial product either by type of product or through the dedicated dressing selection tool. Products are delivered to the address provided on joining the library, usually within 3 working days (UK), for use on a specific case that is briefed online in confidence at the time of ordering. Details of the case are then updated online as treatment progresses. On completion of a case report it is first approved and then released into the database which can then be searched through multiple criteria, such as wound type, species or product type. Only products with an established CE mark complying with European and British Pharmacopea standards for use in open wound management are available through the library. No experimental or alternative dressings are included for trial in the database. Use of the database is welcomed within Europe. Products ordered will be sent by 1st class mail but may take slightly longer to arrive dependent upon local mailing times. Countries outside Europe may access the library but are advised to refer to the national medical device status of the chosen products to ensure usage is within legal protocol. The products provided are of relatively high value. Individual use of the library is therefore monitored and although there are currently no limitations on volume or value it is hoped that respectful use will ensure no limitations are required in the future. The following companies are gratefully thanked for their ongoing support and provision of trial products.
