Georgie founded the Veterinary Wound Library in April 2008 with the initial aim of helping veterinary clinicians to have the opportunity to trial the latest dressing technologies for free while creating data and evidence for others to consult through the library.

The library has developed since and now provides clinical advice through the kind cooperation of the Clinical Advisory Panel. Now in a position to provide more technical advice on wound management per-se plans are in place to move towards a site that provides a more comprehensive source for anyone wishing to find solutions and support for wound management in animals.

Who is Georgie Hollis?

Georgie trained as a podiatrist qualifying in 1997. She began her career working with pedobarography and gait analysis with a view to prevention of ulceration in diabetic patients followed by some time in research on the same subject. She subsequently gained several years commercial experience in the wound management industry where she discovered a lack of incentive for companies to produce veterinary specific material and research.

The last 5 years have since found her focused on the differences between human and animal wound management giving her the motivation to dedicate herself fully to help move the subject forward in the veterinary area. Driven by helping the veterinary profession discover the latest applications of new and developing technologies she hopes that her efforts will encourage new levels of confidence and evidence for wound management to ultimately improve outcomes for clinicians and animals.

Georgie now presents nationally including lectures at Bristol, Nottingham, Cambridge, Liverpool and Glasgow Veterinary Schools as well as regular presentations on behalf of the British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA).

Appointed secretary of the Veterinary Wound Healing Association www.vwha.net in January 2007. Georgie is also an associate member of the BVNA, a member of the European Wound Management Association (EWMA) and an honorary member of Cardiff Institute of Tissue Engineering and Repair (CITER).

Georgie at home:

Having always had an affinity with animals and a farming background animals are a huge part of her life. Living in Norfolk with her partner Richard, when she is not working she will be found on their smallholding tending a small flock of Clun Forest sheep (a heritage of her fathers farming past) a Gloucester Old Spot pig called Girtie, several dozen chickens, her cat Bruce, and Cherry the horse.
